I am essentially good, well I try. I work hard to take care of the gang, I put out my rubbish, sorted. I don't pour oil down the sink and I always, always turn the t-shirts inside out before I hang them out to dry. So days like this are completely undeserved. Nina had me up half the night because she was itchy, very itchy. Masa had to leave at 5:30am, so that kind of jolted us out of a little pocket of sleep. Decided to take Nina to the doc as the spots are increasing and getting very sore looking.
So I get up and rouse the pair and from then on everything seems to go down hill.
- My lovely husband put out the rubbish this morning but something leaked from the bag all over the stone/tiled (inside) entrance....and it smelled. Made mental note to clean.
- Nina was in a very cranky mood and scratching away. Trying to get her dressed was impossible.
- Gave up on breakfast half way through because the pair wouldn't sit.
- Got ready to go to the docs and couldn't find my car keys.
- Aimee runs through aforementioned leakage and slips on her bum.
- Had to change Aimee and wipe up messy smelly leakage.
- Got in to car and Aimee decides she has to pee, out again and in to toilet.
- Finally get to docs and the receptionist asks me how do I know it's chicken pox (had Nina wait in the car as not to cause major panic in waiting room). Receptionist takes one look at Nina and goes, "it's chicken pox".Nina refused to get out of car.
- Doc (wonderful man) told me that he had medicine to keep the spots down to a minimum and stop the itching, but it's a bit late now and I should have come in sooner. (sudden wave of bad mum feelings)(I'm always torn with whether to go in or not, in Japan children get free medical care and there's a tendency by the public to go in for everything and anything. I try not to).
- Went home with happy Nina who loves her medicine and very angry Aimee, who got nothing.
- Tried to make pancakes for late breakfast and ended up burning them.
- Had to go out and bleach stone entrance that I cleaned up earlier because the smell was being very stubborn.
- Aimee drank/dribbled half a bottle of maple syrup in my absence.
- Nina spilled the rest of the bottle on the table.
Having cleaned up and administered a big bag of medicine to spotty Nina, I turned the telly on. We go days in our house without turning on the telly for three reasons, primarily, there is never really anything on of interest, I never have time and the pair seem to be very happy throttling each other for entertainment, so they rarely ask. It is a great thing but the downside being that when I do turn on the telly, they turn into zombies. Which today was exactly what I needed and it is only 11am. Maybe I'll just crawl back into bed for a bit.
