Biography

Mama....move. I can't see the T.V.

You may be asking yourself why I gave this blog page such a title. Well, I've got too little girls who take up all my waking hours and Masa and I are doing our best to bring them up bi-lingual (which we've found out isn't an automatic thing when their parents speak different languages). As we live in Japan and 90% of all interactions we have outside the home are in Japanese, it is actually quite hard to get another language into those busy wiggly little heads of theirs.
I purposely put off working fulltime so that they would be forced to use English more. The result I'm glad to say is that both understand English very well but Nina's (born Sept 2006) first language is English. It's not perfect and we still have a lot of misunderstandings but she is quite the talker in both languages.
So anyway, there I was, knocking myself out "talking properly" to Nina from the day she was born and waiting and waiting for the day when I would hear her make a full sentence in English. That day came and the above it what I got.

Another injustice is that I don't actually turn on the telly in our house before 5/6pm (except for those bad days....) and yet the first full, grammatically correct sentence I got was that.
